As you know, trusses are one of the most versatile modular structures that exist in the world. Its light weight and high strength allow temporary installations that are assembled very easily. By being made of aluminum, they will not rust and can be outdoors without problems, so they are also valid for permanent installations and can stay for a long period of time.

The triangular truss geometry gives it great strength, allowing high loads in structure, much larger than its own weight, so this structure is very used to hang from it heavy elements that need to be high, such as sound systems and lighting.

Achievement of the most varied projects

You may not be aware of the countless applications of trusses, so at FENIX Stage we advise you when carrying out your projects. Today we show you an example: we explain step by step how, from our engineering department, a project of a floating cinema screen was carried out for the port of Alicante.

The first challenge was to lift the truss frame of the screen, since a tilting system was needed to raise the screen at night for the projections and lower it during the day, to prevent the port strong winds from damaging it. Our customer’s design was studied and we proposed a way to do it in a cheaper and simpler way, not requiring large motors. It was decided to change the location of the hinge to lift the truss more easily, requiring less physical effort. Also, the design was optimized.

For its assemble, first a truss base was installed to provide stability to the whole structure. Placing a winch with special anchors at the trusses that were most distant to the screen, this would allow lifting the trussing framework that would hold the canvas on which the image would be projected. The comfort of being able to assemble the truss and the canvas horizontally was something the organization appreciated. The structure left room for placing speakers behind and under the canvas, without the need of complementary structures.
